Elder Scrolls MMO Has '100 percent solo' Main Story

Matt Firor, game director of The Elder Scrolls Online has recently stated that the game is going to feature "100% solo" sections which cover the main plot, making it seem like the story is still revolving around your character like previous instalments of the series. Making the storyline centre on your own character has apparently been a problem in many MMO's which tend to focus more on the multiplayer aspect of it.

Quote:"In the Elder Scrolls games you're always the hero, whether you want to or not,"
Says Firor in a fairly recent interview

Quote:"The last thing you want to do is have the final confrontation with Mehrunes Dagon as he's stomping across the imperial city and you see like 15 guys behind you waiting to kill him because they're on the same quest.
So as MMO online designers, the thing we needed to make sure we hit the most was that feeling that you're awesome, you're the hero, and we do that through a mix of technology where, when I am confronting a major foe in the game I'm doing it in an instance where I'm alone,"

He continues
Quote:"We have a whole part of the game that's 100 percent solo which is the main story where the world focuses on you, you're the hero. Everything you do is solo and the world reacts to you that way."

Minecraft Developer says ''EA is Methodically destroying gaming''

EA has been right on top of the list of controversy this year; being voted the Consumerist's worst company in America, forcing users to sign up for Origins to play online, trying to buy out their competition, censoring anyone who disagrees with their statements (i.e banning them from forums). Now it seems they are trying to make their way into the Indie game market with their new Indie Bundle available on Steam, featuring games like DeathSpank, DeathSpank 2: Thongs of Virtue, Gatling Gears, Shank, Shank 2, and Warp. What is confusing a lot of people is the fact that the word 'indie' is being used regardless of the fact that all these games had major publisher financial backing and that this ignorance might have been purposefully done in order for EA to capitalise on the recent popularity of 'indie bundles'.

One of those people, being Markus “Notch” Persson, a developer of the game 'Minecraft'. And on his twitter, he made it clear that he was upset with EA's new methods:

Quote: EA releases an “indie bundle”? That’s not how that works, EA. Stop attempting to ruin everything, you bunch of cynical bastards… Indies are saving gaming. EA is methodically destroying it… The games in the bundle are good, I’m not questioning them. I’m questioning EA.

EA Confirms New Dead Space Game

EA has confirmed of its plans to make a new Dead Space game, due for release by the end of march 31, 2013.
During an investor call last night EA referenced the title when it said
Quote:"At the foundation is another year of blockbuster brands: Madden NFL, FIFA, Sim City, Medal of Honor, Dead Space, and Need for Speed as well as mobile hits like The Simpsons Tapped Out, and Bejeweled."

It is most likely safe to assume this game will be announced at E3, in a follow up email EA added
Quote:"There's no further information today but watch for several big product announcements from EA at E3 in June."

While it hasn't been confirmed, there is a large chance Visceral Games will be the ones working on it. Furthermore, Siliconera posted multiple reports detailing the plot; apparently Dead Space 3 is going to throw away the typical ship setting seen in the previous games, and instead will favour an icy planet named "Tau Volantis", where a reluctant Isaac will be working on a rescue mission due to a warrant out for his arrest. Further details include our protagonist having a split personality named "Shadow Isaac" who's mind games will play a major part in the story

Bethesda has just announced that The Elder Scrolls Online is indeed coming to the PC and Mac. Not much about the game is known at this point but it is set 1000 years before Skyrim with Daedric prince Molag Bal attempting to incorporate Tamriel into his own realm. Also it will offer PVP combat which pits three factions against each other for control of Cyrodiil.

Matt Firor gave the following statement:

Quote:“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted. It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”

Diablo 3 Allows Multi-Region Online Play

Blizzard has announced that Diablo 3 will allow players from anywhere in the world to fight against each other thanks to the Global Play function. At first players will be organized to 3 separate location-based servers;

- The Americas ( US, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia)
- Europe (EU, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa and the Middle East)
- Asia (South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau)

Global Play allows the players to swap onto any of the other two servers via an in-game menu, either before or after you log on to a game session.

This function does have a few limitations. Item lists, characters and your friends lists won't transfer across different servers. You must create characters and friends list for each specific region, and you'll only have access to that server's gold-based auction house.

If you want to use the real-money auction house, you'll only be able to do so on your home server. Meanig that if you're playing on a foreign server you can't buy or sell any items in its real-money auction house.

To know more, check the spoiler box:

Spoiler:
Quote:What are the available regions? What is a “home” game region?

Diablo III players will have access to three game regions at launch: The Americas, Europe, and Asia. Your “home” game region is determined by the home address (specifically, the country of residence) registered to your Battle.net account. Your home game region and country of residence also determine which real-money auction houses you have access to (if applicable).
The Americas game region includes players in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. Europe includes players in the European Union, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa, and Middle Eastern countries such as Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Asia includes players in South Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. For a complete list of which countries belong to which home game region, visit http://www.battle.net/support/article/5200052.

How do I play in another game region?

You can select which game region you’d like to play in via the game’s Options menu, either before or after you’ve logged in to Battle.net. Note that if you are installing Diablo III for the first time, your game region will default to The Americas, Europe, or Asia based on the version of the client you’ve installed (e.g. you will default to the Europe game region if you install the French-language client). Once you’ve logged into the game at least once, you will default to whichever game region you logged in to last.

Note that in order to use Global Play, you will first need to agree to the legal terms and conditions for the country in which you reside.

Can I play my hero in another region?

Heroes are available to play only in the game region in which they were created, and you are not able to move a hero from one game region to another. Each game region has its own independent hero list, and you can have up to a total of 10 heroes per region (counting both normal and Hardcore characters) at a time. You will be presented with a region-specific hero list whenever you change game regions.

Will my shared stash be accessible across regions?

Your shared stash will not be available across regions. As with your heroes, stashes in each region exist independently from one another, and items cannot be transferred between game regions.

Can I use the auction house in other regions?

Players are able to use every game region’s gold-based auction house. However, players are only able to use the real-money auction house (where applicable) when playing in their home region. As with items and heroes, auction houses are region-specific, and players cannot buy or sell items across game regions. See the Auction House FAQ for more information.

For example, a North American player who logs in to his or her home region (The Americas) will have access to the real-money auction house and gold-based auction house for The Americas. If that same person switches to play in the Europe game region, he or she will have access only to the gold-based auction house for the Europe region. When the player switches back to The Americas, the gold- and real-money auction house for The Americas will be available once again.

Does it cost anything to change which region I’m playing in?

No, changing play regions is free.

Can I change my region back if I want?

You can change your play region as many times as you’d like.

Can I transfer my character to another game region?

There are no hero-transfer services available for Diablo III. We do not have any plans to allow players to transfer characters between regions.

What are the customer-support policies for each region?
Players will be held to the policies for each region while playing in that region. For example, while playing in the Europe region, European policies will apply; while playing in The Americas region, policies for The Americas apply. This is the same for all players in a region regardless of where their home region is located.

Note that account penalties are global, meaning any actions applied to your account when playing in one game region will apply to other game regions as well.

Will my interface or game language change if I switch regions?

Your game language and interface will remain the same when you change regions. If you purchased the full-language version of Diablo III, you will be able to play in all available languages in all regions. To play in a different language, you will first need to download the Diablo III game client for that language from Battle.net.

If you purchased the Korean, Russian-language-only, traditional-Chinese-language-only, or another language-limited version of Diablo III, you will only be able to switch to the languages you’ve purchased. You will, however, be able to play in all three game regions using the language you purchased. Note that the Korean-language client does not contain the real-money auction house inferface.

Do my Real ID and BattleTag™ friendships carry over to other game regions?

Real ID and BattleTag friendships are region-specific, so you will need to re-establish your existing friendships in each play region. In addition, players are only able to communicate with each other and see each other’s status when they are playing in the same game region.

Will I need to create a new BattleTag when I switch my region?

Your BattleTag is the same in every game region. However, you will need to establish BattleTag friendships on a region-by-region basis.

How will server maintenance affect my ability to play in other regions?

If Diablo III-related servers in your home region are undergoing your maintenance, in most circumstances you should be able to access Diablo III-related servers in another region, as long as they are not undergoing maintenance as well. Note that if you haven't previously logged into another region using your current login credentials, your ability to connect might be affected while your home region is in maintenance.

Are there any restrictions on who can use Global Play?

At the launch of Diablo III, Korean players who log in to the game at an IGR (and are not playing using a full Diablo III license they purchased themselves) will only be able to play in the Asia game region. In addition, players who are using a Diablo III “guest pass” (available after Diablo III launches) will only be able to play in the game region in which they redeemed the guest pass.

Can I use my own language to create character names and/or chat when playing in game regions outside my home region?

You are able to chat and see other players’ chat in any language Diablo III supports, regardless of the game region you’re playing in or which localized client you’re using. In addition, other players will see your chat text in whatever language you’re using.

You are able to create a character name only in the language of the client you’re using; however, if you switch to a different language client, your character will still have his or her name.

Skyrim DLC Announced, Kinect Shouts Update

It's been too long Bethesda..

Finally, after weeks and months of speculation, leaks, and rumors... developer and publisher of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have finally announced the first DLC of the game, titled Dawnguard.

Not much was revealed about the new DLC. However, there is extremely heavy speculation that this first DLC content will contain crossbows, new vampire animations (possibly making them better?), heavy snow elf quests, and some new feature with the initials RF.

All that we really know as of now is that Dawnguard hits Xbox 360 a month early, and the DLC is expected to be released in the summer.

However, if you are having Skyrim withdrawal, there is good news! At least for Xbox 360 users. The Kinect shouts were released today, along with a large update. Everything you can possibly shout at your TV can be found in this covenant PDF file.

Expect more information on the DLC in coming weeks.

Black Ops 2 trailer revealed

Soon after posters and release dates came into our notice , now has a trailer. The most startling fact is that the game looks nothing like a traditional Call of Duty game. You will apparently be fighting drones and various sorts of technology gone wrong in explosive cinematic fashion. There is actually a horseback shootout as seen in the following trailer. Will this interesting new direction spice up the franchise , or will Black Ops 2 still feel like just another Call of Duty or better yet, just another shooter? In the meantime , I am cautiously optimistic

Update: The game also will feature branching story paths and non-linear gameplay

It has been confirmed that God of War: Ascension by Santa Monica Studios will indeed have a multiplayer component when it hits the stores in the future.

The multiplayer will see two teams of four players compete against one other to defeat a massive boss. Those who wish to play online will have to create their own character and choose which god they want to worship; Ares, Hades, Poseidon or Zeus. The player will get specific armor, weapons and ablities depending on the god they chose to worship. Experience points will allow you to gain new abilities and level up your character.

Each character begins with the Blades of Chaos and new weapons can be unlocked through leveling up, including swords, hammers and spears.
